Dog-first profiles
Temperament, pace, size, energy, play style and useful boundaries in one practical profile.
- No public owner lifestyle feed
- Dog needs before polished photos
- Edit preferences as they change
Profiles and matching should do just enough useful work to create better real-world walks. Here is what is planned for launch-and what is not ready yet.
The focused set BarkUp needs to make local introductions useful and safer.
Good ideas that still need evidence, design work and careful testing.
No inflated feature count. These are the capabilities BarkUp needs to solve the first problem properly.
Temperament, pace, size, energy, play style and useful boundaries in one practical profile.
Look for the sort of dog and walk that fits, rather than scrolling through whoever is nearest.
Broad areas help people find realistic local options without displaying exact homes or live pins.
Create or join a walk with a known route, pace, meeting point and manageable group size.
Verified adults, block and report controls, plus guidance for calmer first meetings.

“Happiest walking side by side. Please give me a minute before saying hello.”
BarkUp profiles are not miniature dating profiles for humans. The useful identity is the dog: how they move, meet and feel around others.
An owner still completes adult verification and remains accountable for their conduct. Their home and personal life do not need to become public content for the community to work.
These ideas are on the trail map, not in the launch build. They will only move forward when BarkUp can make them useful, private and reliable.
Timely community notes about mud, livestock, flooding, broken gates and other useful route conditions.
Keep a short list of routes that suit your dog’s pace, confidence and practical needs.
Improve suggestions using what makes a walk work, without turning sensitive location data into an advertising profile.
“Coming soon” means planned and subject to change. BarkUp will announce a date when the feature is tested and genuinely ready-not to create artificial urgency.
